Seattle Tuba-Euphonium Conference

The 2010 Seattle Tuba-Euphonium Conference (SEATEC) will be held at the University of Washington School of Music, January 15 - 17, 2010. The conference is free and everyone, especially tuba and euphonium players are welcome.

We are very excited about this year's guest artists, Demondrae Thurman and Eugene Dowling. They will be dazzling us with recital performances and educating us in masterclasses.

There will also be a group warm-up session and a massed tuba-euphonium ensemble reading session. So, bring your euphonium or tuba and be prepared to have a great time.

The conference is free, however, we would appreciate your financial support. You can donate to the conference by clicking the Donate button on the left.

Dress up and bring your horn to be photographed by Geoff Manasse, the Group Photo Guy. An established portrait photographer in Seattle, Geoff is also a tubist, and has a special affection for our music. This is a rare opportunity to get a professional portrait with your horn for $20 plus tax. Check out Geoff's website at groupphotoguy.com.

Here is the process:

  1. Call Geoff Manasse at (206) 985-4502 to reserve a 5-minute photo shoot window during lunch (11:20 am -12:20 pm) on Saturday 01/16/2010 during SEATEC in Room 212 in the UW Music Building. This is the only time Geoff will be doing this, because he will be a participant in the conference as well as the official photographer.
  2. Give Geoff your address information and pay $21.90 with a credit or debit card when you make your reservation. (Half of this will go to SEATEC and half will go to expenses for the photography.)
  3. Show up early for your reservation so you have time to decompress and relax. Breath normally. Be ready to be photographed when your time arrives.
  4. Find Geoff during lunch on Sunday to select your favorite image or he will select his favorite for you.
  5. Geoff will mail you one 8x10 print for your personal use. No other rights.
  6. If you want to order more prints or obtain a file for other uses, Geoff will be happy to sell these to you. That's how he makes a living.
  7. If you need to cancel, we will credit your money back to your account if you call Geoff 24 hours beforehand. By 11:20 am on 01/15/2010. Otherwise, no refunds.
